Dynamic Disease Unveiled: A Chronic Case of G.I.T. tract Cured by Arsenic Album
Disease is the dynamic derangement of the Vital Force — a timeless statement well evidenced by the study of this case. On 10/09/2023, I received a 22‑year‑old male patient suffering from persistent vomiting for the past 15 days, accompanied by tenderness in the lower abdominal region. General weakness was the distinguishing feature of the case. On investigation, a history of abdominal pain was revealed, which had begun gradually, worsened over time, and eventually culminated in vomiting — a condition that had first appeared 15 years earlier.

Introduction:
Prescription:
Appearance of the new symptoms:
Fever developed one day after taking the medicine, accompanied by severe restlessness, intense heat, and frequent urination. Vomiting and tenderness in the lower abdominal region were reduced, but the fever intensified. The patient’s parents became very anxious on account of the fever and repeatedly called me. Despite my assurance that the fever would subside automatically, they remained unconvinced and impatiently consulted an allopathic doctor once again.
The doctor attended the patient, and the fever subsided with allopathic treatment. However, the case took another turn: the patient began to complain of severe pain in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen, which was diagnosed as appendicitis and confirmed by ultrasonography. Treatment for appendicitis was initiated, but only a few days later the patient developed new complaints of rectal hemorrhage. A CT scan of the abdomen was performed, and this time colitis with intestinal ulceration was diagnosed.
The patient’s parents, now feeling helpless, returned to consult me. I prescribed Arsenicum album 30 once again. The patient developed fever, but the rectal hemorrhage stopped. After three days, the fever persisted but then subsided spontaneously. The patient began to show improvement in his overall physical health: no vomiting, no abdominal tenderness, no rectal hemorrhage, and no weakness. He was clearly progressing toward recovery.
I continued the medicine for over three months and then stopped. No recurrence of symptoms was recorded. The patient later moved to Mumbai for his studies. On 29/07/2026, he revisited my clinic. He is now a software engineer, appearing completely healthy. Even after three years, he consulted me only for a minor complaint of cough and cold.
Case discussion:
This case is a classic example of Aphorism 7, as stated by Dr. Hahnemann in the Organon of Medicine. In Aphorism 7, Dr. Hahnemann addresses the physician, explaining that the original derangement occurs in the vital force — an internal dynamic disturbance that cannot be seen. Hence, we must rely on symptomatology for the prescription of medicine. However, symptomatology does not furnish the true portrait of the disease; it merely presents a mirror image of the original derangement of the vital force. Moreover, symptomatology depends upon the seat of disease occupied by the inimical force, better termed as the miasm.
Step‑by‑Step Explanation:
Suppression of inter-trigo: This patient had a strong background of the Psoric miasm, as evidenced by the trace history of intertrigo, which had been suppressed with external medication. This suppression subsequently affected the liver and led to jaundice.
Jaundice: typically appears with fever and, as the history indicates, was accompanied by vomiting and weakness. It was suppressed with allopathic treatment once again. This became a second layer of suppression, which eventually led to gastritis. Over time, the condition resurfaced, manifesting as repeated episodes of vomiting with abdominal tenderness — a pattern recorded over the last 15 years and treated repeatedly with allopathy.
Ther internal essence reflects vital derangement first time when liver became seat of disease, with the symptoms of persistent vomiting, heat, weakness, and tenderness at lower abdominal region. This was the first mirror image of the internal essence, that clearly calls for Arsenic album. but repeatedly suppressed by Allopathic medicine.
Gastritis: Recurrence of vomiting with abdominal pain, appearing from time to time, was in fact an effort of the vital force to safeguard the patient. This defensive attempt of the organism was strong enough that it could no longer be suppressed by allopathic treatment. Seeking genuine relief, the patient eventually consulted me.
Administration of Arsenic: Arsenicum album provided instant relief in the prompt symptoms, but the fever soon returned. This annoyed the patient’s parents and compelled them to seek consultation with an allopathic physician. The allopathic physician again suppressed the fever, which subsequently led to swelling in another organ. This time, the seat of disease was the appendix — often an innocent organ but lead to surgically removed. In the context, I want to say that Appendicitis do not need to cut surgically almost 90 time of 100, it can be cure by homoeopathic medicine.
Rectal haemorrhage: effort to treat appendicitis medically led to Rectal haemorrhage, now parents of patient realize the mistake and again make a consultation for me. in this case disease force ever changing its seat and accordingly symptoms. so, the changing symptoms were nothing but originated from the occupied organ. this idea is very true about the cancerous affection. surgical removal of the organ does not lead toward the cure.
A very important message for the attending physician: Not every individual symptom provides the true guidance. The real portrait of the disease is a matter of perception. A genuine remedy does not change according to the location or the shifting symptoms; the fundamental derangement of the vital force always remains the same. As evident in this case, Arsenicum album remained the indicated remedy despite the changing location of symptoms — from the liver to the rectum, from vomiting to rectal hemorrhage.
Conclusion: Consequently, it can be affirmed that disease is nothing but a dynamic derangement of the vital force. This case clearly demonstrates how the fundamental disturbance of the vital force manifests through varying symptoms and shifting locations, yet remains essentially the same at its core.
Our master, Dr. Hahnemann, emphasized in his Organon of Medicine that the true essence of disease lies beyond the material plane and can only be perceived through its dynamic expressions. His observations continue to prove true in the hands of a skilled physician, who recognizes that the apparent diversity of symptoms is merely the outward reflection of one underlying disturbance.
Thus, the physician’s task is not to chase every symptom individually, nor to be misled by the superficial changes in location or form, but to perceive the true portrait of the disease — the dynamic derangement of the vital force — and to select the remedy that corresponds to this inner reality. This case stands as a living testimony to the timeless truth of Hahnemann’s philosophy.
