Kali Iodatum in a Case of Lumps in the Breast Region

I present here a case of a patient who was suffering from the complaint of lumps and was cured very quickly.

A female patient, 30–32 years of age, came to me. Her husband reported that there was one lump in each breast region. On taking the history, it was found that similar lumps had appeared approximately one year earlier and had been treated with allopathic medicines. At that time, the condition had been suppressed by allopathic treatment.

It therefore became clear that the disease was chronic. Keeping the patient's symptoms and her constitutional nature in consideration, I selected Kali Iodatum for her.

The patient was thin and fair-complexioned. Her menstruation occurred before the expected date. One important symptom was that she experienced considerable pain in the breast region on getting up in the morning.

This symptom may be confused with that of Rhus Tox, but there was an important difference. In Rhus Tox, the disease symptoms increase from cold, whereas this patient obtained relief from open air. This indicated that the patient's constitution was warm. She preferred sleeping at night without covering herself with a sheet.

Considering all these symptoms, Kali Iodatum was prescribed, and it produced a remarkable curative effect.

I gave the patient Kali Iodatum 200, four doses, at intervals of one hour in the evening.

The next morning, the patient had no discomfort. The lumps in the breast region had completely disappeared. It is remarkable that conditions which ordinarily take weeks or months to become firm can become so soft after receiving the appropriate homoeopathic medicine.

This case clearly demonstrates the immense power of homoeopathic medicines. Despite this, our homoeopathic physicians sometimes use allopathic medicines. The question arises: to what extent is this appropriate?

Prescription

• Kali Iodatum 200 – Four doses at one-hour intervals, given in the evening.

Clinical Outcome

• No discomfort was reported the next morning.
• The lumps in the breast region had completely disappeared.

Conclusion

This case demonstrates the rapid curative effect of Kali Iodatum 200 in a patient with lumps in the breast region. The medicine was selected on the basis of the patient's symptoms and constitutional nature. Four doses given at one-hour intervals in the evening were followed by complete disappearance of the lumps by the next morning.
