Everything in the world is composed of two fundamental elements: matter and energy. Matter organizes physical structures and preserves integrity, while energy imparts vibration and motion, animating material parts. The same principle applies to the biological device we call the human body. The Vital Force, spiritual in origin and dynamic in nature, animates the material body in its state of health. Aphorism 9 is wholly concerned with the role of this force in both health and disease. When the vital force—autocratic, dynamic, and spiritual—remains in harmony, it governs with unbounded sway and produces pleasurable sensations. Conversely, when deranged, it manifests as abnormal sensations and disordered functions, which we recognize as disease. The vital force inherently strives to maintain harmony, for only in such balance can we use our body—this precious, divinely gifted instrument—for the higher purposes of our existence.

" In the healthy condition of man, the spiritual vital force (autocracy), the dynamis that animates the material body (organism), rules with unbounded sway, and retains all the parts of the organism in admirable, harmonious vital operations, as regards both sensation and functions, so that our indwelling, reason gifted mind can freely employ this living, healthy instrument for the higher purposes of our existence."

Explanatory note:

Aphorism 9 wholly concerns the nature of the Vital Force and its role in health. In this aphorism, Dr. Hahnemann states that, in the healthy condition of man, the Vital Force—spiritual in origin and dynamic in nature—animates the material body and maintains all its parts and organ in harmonious order. In this state, the organism experiences itself as a unified whole, both in sensation and function.

Thus, the reason‑gifted mind can freely employ this living, healthy instrument for the higher purposes of existence. In other words, every person must ask himself: What is the cause or purpose of my presence on this earth?

At this point, the aphorism gently turns toward spiritual philosophy. It raises a profound question that every individual must contemplate: What is the purpose of your life? Why do you exist on this earth? Dr. Hahnemann, however, did not provide an explicit answer to this question. but depict a clear picture of health in respect of vital force.

Word meaning and explanation:

Spiritual vital force: Total energy of universe is constant, neither be created nor be destroyed but it can be transformed from one form to another one. of course, vital force is also an energy, but how this transformation occurs, still we don't know. That's why Dr. Hahnemann termed this form of energy spiritual vital force.

Material body: body without vital force is corps has no power of animation, emotions, anger or other vital expression, hence considered as dead. Dead body is termed as material body.

Unbounded sway: The word unbounded sway tells us about the power of vital force, its mean vital force has limitless power, it rules on material body without any restriction.

Higher purpose of existence: This is a question, pointed out by Dr. Hahnemann in this aphorism, must be asked by every person to himself " why did he put here on the earth? if you don't know the answer to this question, so try to make better yourself and everything around us, do works for the betterment of mankind.
