Aphorism - 10, " Without vital force the Organism must be consider as dead"

The vital force, when healthy, rules with unbounded sway and keeps all parts of the organism in harmony. As long as this force is undisturbed, the body performs its functions freely and maintains life. But when this vital force is deranged by disease, the harmony is lost, and the body shows signs and symptoms of disorder.

Aphorism - 10, " Without vital force the Organism must be consider as dead"

Aphorism - 10, as the continuation of Aphorism 9

Aphorism - 10

"The material organism, without the vital force, is capable of no sensation, no function, no self-preservation [it is dead and now only subject to the power of the external physical world; it decays, and is again resolved into its chemical constituents.]; it derives all sensation, and performs all the function of life solely by means of the immaterial being (the vital principle) which animates the material organism in health and in disease."

Explanatory note:

Actually, Aphorism 10 is the continuation of Aphorism 9. In Aphorism 9, Dr. Hahnemann describes the qualities of the vital force, stating that it is autocratic, automatic, dynamic, instinctive, and spiritual. He never refers to the vital force as “unintelligent.” In fact, such a claim would be contradictory. Logically speaking, how could a force that is autocratic, automatic, and spiritual be considered unintelligent?

In Aphorism 10, Dr. Hahnemann further elaborates on the function of the vital force. He explains that the vital force is capable of maintaining sensation, regulating all biological functions, and ensuring self‑preservation within the organism. An organism should be considered truly living only because of the existence of this vital force. Without it, the body is merely material; with it, the body becomes animated, functional, and self‑sustaining. Without vital force the organism is dead, and the dead organism is the part of Physical world I mean no existence in the living world.
